ABOUT EKOME BIO

Ekome means oneness.

It is a word from Ga, a language of southern Ghana. We chose it because it names the thing we are actually working on. Not a bird. Not a bag of feed. The relationship between them, and the community of organisms living in between.

We are not a generalist feed company. We are microbiome specialists, and that is a narrower job than it sounds.

Industrial Bioscience
WHY WE STARTED

Targeted, biologically specific support. That is the whole brief.

The industry answers narrow problems with broad tools.

Ekome began with something we kept noticing in poultry houses. When a flock goes off, the response is almost always something broad — an intervention that acts on everything, because it is difficult and slow to know what has actually gone wrong. Broad tools are understandable. They are also blunt, and they are getting harder to justify.

Meanwhile the thing doing most of the work goes unattended. A bird’s gut carries a dense microbial community that decides how much of a ration is recovered, how the immune system is trained, and how much room an opportunist has to grow. It is not background. It is the mechanism.

So we set the company up around one discipline instead of a catalogue. Understand the community. Choose organisms for a defined job rather than for a species list that looks impressive on a label. Declare what is in the sack, and say what the evidence does and does not support.

HERITAGE
“The oldest wisdom, finally proven.”

Long before anyone could see a bacterium, farmers understood that a healthy animal is a balanced one, and that balance is something you keep rather than something you install. We did not discover that. We are only the generation with the instruments to measure it.

WHAT WE HOLD TO

Three commitments, and what they cost us.

Precision over volume

We would rather sell a small range that does a specific job than a wide one that gestures at gut health. Every organism we carry has to earn its place against a defined function. Most candidates do not.

It keeps our catalogue short

Transparency over marketing

We publish what is in the sack and where a figure came from. When the evidence behind something is thin, we say it is thin — in the first conversation, not the fourth.

It costs us easy claims

Partnership over transactions

A feed additive that nobody helps you use is just freight. We work alongside nutrition teams on inclusion, mill conditions and trial design, and we would rather be told a product did nothing than never hear back.

It makes us slower to scale

TWO MARKETS, ONE THREAD

Ghana and the United Kingdom.

The name comes from Ghana. The manufacturing is in the United Kingdom. We are based in London, and we sell into both markets — which is less tidy than picking one, and deliberate.

Ghanaian poultry production is growing quickly and carries the same pressures the UK sector has spent two decades working through: feed cost, gut health, and a steady tightening around routine antimicrobial use. The technical answers travel. What usually does not travel is the support around them — the person who will look at your conditioning temperatures, or sit down with a nutritionist and design a trial worth running.

Building that capability in both places, rather than exporting product and hoping, is the part of this we care most about getting right.

WHERE WE ARE NOW

At the beginning, and saying so.

Ekome Bio is pre-launch. We have run no commercial trials of our own, we hold no results from a working mill, and we have no customer whose name we can put on a page. Every figure you will find on this site belongs to somebody else and is attributed to them.

What we have done is the slower part. We have spent our first stretch reading rather than selling: working out which organisms have a defensible case behind them, which do not, and where the honest gaps sit. That work decided our formulations, and it is available to any technical team that wants to interrogate it.

What we need next is partners. Feed manufacturers, integrators and distributors willing to put a defined product through a real mill and a real house, and to tell us plainly what happened. That is how a company like this earns the right to make claims — not by writing them first.

Oneness. Balance. Resilience. Everything else is still to be proved.

Come and test us on it.

We issue the full technical dossier and the published evidence behind our formulations to feed manufacturers, integrators and distributors, and we respond within two working days. Bring the awkward questions first — they are the ones worth our time and yours.
